Global mobile payment and digital marketing specialists, PM Connect, today (30 March 2022) announces the appointment of a new CEO as it gears up for its next phase of international growth.

Kevin Dawson joins as Group CEO, bringing with him over 20 years of industry experience to the role. The appointment is part of a newly vamped executive team that sees the company’s co-founder James Macfarlane move to the role of President, effective as of 28 March.

Starting his career at Orange, Kevin held positions at 3Com, Talk Talk and Vodafone. He then joined Dynamic Mobile Billing where he worked for eleven years, the last five of which as its CEO - driving the company’s strategy and growth.

James Macfarlane, President at PM Connect, said:

“I am very proud of the growth and development PM Connect has experienced during my time as CEO, as we deliver on our mission of making in-demand content accessible to all. I am even more excited about the coming years and bringing Kevin on board will help catalyse that vision.

“I have known Kevin for a long time as an industry peer and am delighted with the prospect of working with him to help drive us to new heights. His experience as a seasoned CEO in the telecoms and mobile payments space will be invaluable to us as we continue our global expansion into Africa, North America, the Middle East and the Far East - whilst continuing to grow in Europe.”

Sanjay Mistry will also be joining the fold as CTO in PM Connect’s new-look exec team, having worked at Infomedia for over 17 years most recently as CTO and COO - and will begin his time with the company in June.

The news follows significant wins for the business in 2021, including entering a multi-year partnership with the NBA as the mobile payments partner for its flagship OTT product, NBA League Pass, alongside pioneering mobile payments for cloud gaming.

Kevin Dawson, Chief Executive Officer at PM Connect added:

“I am thrilled, PM Connect has always been a thought leader in mobile payments and consumer value-centric partnerships. It continues to go from strength-to-strength, as demonstrated by the recent progress in the business, which is testament to the vision and hard work of James, the leadership team and employees.

“I am very much looking forward to working closely with them all to help further develop a vibrant, energetic and market-leading business. I am driven to  serve the needs of all of our mobile network and brand partners internationally - alongside the audiences we are reaching by democratising premium content.”

Kevin will be overseeing PM Connect’s ambitious international growth strategy, with the firm now reaching 1 billion consumers in over 40 territories, and its long-standing focus on bringing major sports and entertainment brands into the mobile ecosystem - connecting them to new audiences.

Hilary Smyth-Allen, Executive Lead at SuperTech has commented:

“A big welcome to Kevin from all of the team at SuperTech.  We’re so proud of the PM Connect story, demonstrating that global leading fintech can start and grow in Birmingham.  We look forward to working with you in this next chapter under new leadership.”
