20 WEST MIDLANDS BUSINESSES CHOSEN FOR FULLY FUNDED TECH DEVELOPMENT

Five additional spaces now available

20 idea stage founders have been given the opportunity to develop new technology solutions following a £480,000 investment from the Government’s £220 million UK Community Renewal Fund.

The businesses which are from Birmingham, Walsall, Dudley and the wider West Midlands will exhibit their new solutions alongside four other early-stage founders on Thursday 30 June at iCentrum in Birmingham.

New technologies under development include:

  • Revolutionary PropTech to reinforce tenants and occupiers safety in the event of fire disaster and protect the real estate owner from lawsuits and reputational damage

  • A FinTech - Edtech asset depository on the distributed ledger designed for parents, guardians and carers to protect a variety of asset classes, including records of achievement and investments, for under 18-year-olds.

  • An interactive and disruptive HRTech app for C Suite executives that challenges the status quo and breaks down bias to drive better leadership behaviours with a more coherent and engaged workforce.

  • RiskTech to prevent damages and litigation arising from breach of contracts for small and medium sized businesses covering the entire supply chain and customer population.

  • A single FitTech app providing nutritional advice, physiotherapy and mental health support with hybrid working friendly classes to reduce poor health in employees leading to a stronger and more productive workforce.

  • Lawtech to serve the general population with queries on the amending and updating of wills with signposts to local providers for support within given user parameters.

All 24 of the businesses applied to the SuperTech Seeds programme, a first of its kind approach to developing fully funded technology solutions using no-code.

Five more businesses from across the West Midlands are now also being sought to join the programme before 27th June, as part of an extension.

Hilary-Smyth-Allen, SuperTech executive lead, said:

“There were more than 70 applicants, for the 20 available spaces on the SuperTech Seeds programme, demonstrating that the West Midlands is a hotbed of entrepreneurial and innovative talent. As the first region globally to fully finance and develop new businesses and solutions using no-code, we’re ensuring these firms and the wider West Midlands economy benefit from first to market technologies.

“SuperTech is the first and only body of its kind tasked with the advancement and greater adoption of technology in business and professional services. The 20 entrepreneurs chosen are providing solutions to a wide range of issues encountered by those organisations, to help further grow a sector that already generates £28 billion Gross Value Added annually and employs more than 343,000 people within the region.

“The upcoming demonstration day will give businesses and investors a chance to find out more about the technologies that are being developed. I’m also pleased to announce that thanks to the ongoing success of SuperTech Seeds we can accept five further entrepreneurs onto the programme for rapid technology development.”
